A new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll says President Obama has increased his lead over Herman Cain and Mitt Romney by six percentage points compared to two points in October.

It's not all good news for President Obama, however, because the poll says close to three-quarters of voters agree that Obama has failed in his promise to improve upon government supervision of the banking system and Wall Street. Wall Street Journal says about the same proportion of those polled are dissapointed at Obama's handling of the economy.

The poll also says three-quarters of Americans think the nation's economy favors the rich minority over the majority and that there is need to cut down power and influence of major banks and corporations and end tax breaks for the affluent. Sixty percent of Americans strongly express anti-corporation views, indicating there is strong grass-roots support in the country for the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Wall Street Journal also reports 42% of those polled said they would probably vote for an unnamed Republican candidate.

Obama's job approval rating remains at 44% while 51% dissaprove of Obama's handling of his job as president.

The poll says 54% of Americans think the present economic problems signal the beginning of a long term decline in national fortunes the country may not recover from.
